Olive Oil During Weaning
When transitioning from breast milk or formula to solid foods (usually from the 6th month), babies need healthy fats. Extra virgin olive oil is an ideal natural fat source for brain and eye development.
Why Olive Oil?
- Its oleic acid ratio is close to breast milk — gentle on a baby's digestive system
- Supports absorption of fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, K
- Contributes to bone and brain development
When and How Much?
- Usually from the 6th month, added raw to purées and soups
- A few drops at first; the amount increases as the baby grows
- Adding it after cooking preserves nutritional value
Always Extra Virgin
For baby nutrition, choose 100% natural, cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil. Refined oils, which go through chemical processing, are not preferred. Pure, additive-free content is critical for babies.
Important Note
Every baby's needs differ. Consult your paediatrician before starting solids and before introducing any new food.
